"I'd love to have more student devices in my room. How do I get started and what are some easy ideas to implement?"

Suggested Sessions:

Everyone's Engaged with Apps and Sites - Stacy Robison, Two Mile 5th Grade This session will include information about apps and websites to ensure that every student is engaged in the lesson and actively participating with his/her device, regardless of the content area/subject or grade level. Some of websites discussed in the session may include, but aren't limited to polleverywhere.com, todaysmeet.com, and padlet.com, along with the app popplet. During this time, you'll be able to participate in a quick demonstration of these engagement activities and then have some time at the end to plan how to implement them into your lessons and/or curriculum.

Buzz Worthy Book Reviews - Stacy Robison, Two Mile 5th GradeNow that students have devices, what should they do with them during independent reading time? This session is here to help with that dilemma! I’ll provide you with some safe and appropriate links that kids can use during their independent reading time. We’ll also explore some apps that kids can use to share about their completed independent books, similar to old fashioned book reports; however, kids will LOVE that book reports now integrate technology. Please download the following apps, if you can, as examples will be shown of : Overdrive, MyOn, 30 hands, Pic Collage, Voice Record, iMovie, and Trading Cards.

Engagement Through Inquiry - Carla Chaffin, eMINTS National Center - How to incorporate inquiry into the classroom will be modeled for participants including apps for online connections. A taste of the eMINTS Instructional Model and questioning strategies will be incorporated for developing lesson design techniques.
